Grace Potter has added two new members to her longtime backing band, The Nocturnals.

Former Ryan Adams & the Cardinals bassist Catherine Popper has signed on as Bryan Donderos replacement. As previously reported, the bassist left the Nocturnals earlier this year. In addition, Bennya member of Nocturnals guitarist Scott Tournets experimental rock project Blues & Laserswill tour as the Nocturnals rhythm guitarist this summer.
According to the band, Potter, guitarist Scott Tournet and drummer Matt Burr had planned on holding extensive auditions for the vacant bass slot in New York and L.A., but they first checked out Popper on a recommendation.’ The ensemble decided to expand to a five-piece after Yurco sat in with the band, including Popper, during their appearance at a special VH1 School of Rock 40th anniversary Woodstock tribute. The new Nocturnals’ first setlist consisted of Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit, CSNY’s Woodstock, Janis Joplins Try and Potter’s Nothing But The Water.
Grace Potter is currently putting the final touches on a new album with T Bone Burnett. The band will appear at Baltimores 8 × 10 tomorrow.
