This past Saturday the Disco Biscuits headlined Morrison, COs historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the first time. A re-envisioning of the Bisco Inferno festival the band hosted in Colorado a few years back, the all-day event also featured support sets by longtime friends Orchard Lounge, The New Deal and Lotus. In addition, DJs Z-Trip and RJD2 both offered sets, before sharing the stage for a massive, six turntable spectacle.

The Disco Biscuits closed the evening with a marathon two-set show, with DJ Paul Oakenfold spinning between each set. The show mixed live staples like ‘Crickets’ and ‘I-Man, alongside new songs ‘Mirrors, ‘M-80’ and ‘Uber Glue, and rarities like The Sabre Dance’ and Billy Reids ‘White Chicks & Gang Signs’ (a song best known from YouTube). Adding to the evenings festive feel, the Disco Biscuits also invited out the Philadelphia-based multimedia dance theatre troupe, the ArcheDream.

Headlining Red Rocks was one of the great experiences of my life, right up there with the birth of my two children, and playing the Tweeter Center a few years back, Marc Brownstein told Relix/Jambands.com. Having opened for Phil Lesh there a bunch of years back, we felt completely comfortable and at ease with the situation, and being so relaxed helps make for what people have been calling the ultimate in Biscuits’ experiences. The multi-media performance of ArcheDream was definitely the pinnacle for us. The combination of dancers, visuals, and music took me to another plane. I can’t wait for Bisco Inferno 4 at Red Rocks, Summer 2010! See you there.
The Disco Biscuits will appear at Providence, RI’s Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel on June 3.
