On Tuesday, July 7, Brooklyn Bowl will finally open to the public. The bowling alley and 600-capacity performance space has been developed by former Wetlands Preserve owner (and Relix/Jambands.com publisher) Peter Shapiro along with longtime Wetlands general manager Charley Ryan. After much anticipation, a recent New York Times preview and an occasional sneak peek or two (check out this video), Brooklyn Bowl will open via a ‘soft launch,’ from 6 PM to 2 AM on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as 6 PM to 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Regular live music will not begin until later this summer along with a full menu of food from the Blue Ribbon restaurants, advance lane reservations and extended hours. Brooklyn Bowl also features a nine-screen high-definition digital video projection system and the facility was developed in conjunction with the United States Green Building Councils Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. The upcoming event that particularly intrigues us is Lebowski Fest New York on September 24.
