Four months ago bassist Bryan Dondero left Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. Though the split seemed friendly at first, Dondero recently posted an extended entry on his blog painting a very different picture of his departure. According to Dondero, Potter was planning on making an album without the Nocturnals and intended to leave the bassist off her forthcoming album with T-Bone Burnett. Dondero also mentions that he is currently in the midst of a legal battle with his former band stemming from royalties relating to past Nocturnals recordings. After causing a stir on the web, his post was removed late this afternoon.
Drummer Jim Keltner, bassist Dennis Crouch and guitarist Marc Ribot are among the musicians scheduled to augment Potter, guitarist Scott Tournet and drummer Matthew Burr on the forthcoming Nocturnals album. The band also recently added bassist Catherine Popper and guitarist Benny Yurco to its touring lineup.
