As previously reported, Brooklyn Bowl will celebrate the launch of its full Blue Ribbon food menu this week with a series of free shows. Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno will kick off the free series with a performance this evening, Tuesday August 4, with his new band Chapter 2. The all-star group features his longtime Lettuce foil Adam Deitch on drums and recent Soulive collaborator Nigel Hall on lead vocals. In addition, this evenings performance will feature guest appearances by some other former Wetlands regulars, including DJ Logic (longtime Jambands.com readers may remember another one of the evenings rumored guests as the only New Groove of the Month subject to make an appearance on 30 Rock). Alberta Cross and Blues & Lasers will also help the club/bowling alley celebrate the launch of its full menu on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

Brooklyn Bowl hosted two unexpected shows this weekend. On Friday, the groups Obits and Polvo played free shows in the new room after their scheduled gig at New Yorks South Street Seaport was rained out. Likewise, on Sunday indie-rockers Dan Deacon, Deerhunter and No Age moved their joint Jelly Pool Party gig inside the venue due to inclement weather. The three bands ended up playing two free shows to accommodate the show’s demand.
