The Pixies’ Frank Black, David Berkeley and The Autumn Defense featuring Wilco’s John Stirratt and Pat Sansone are among the acts scheduled to celebrate the work of Miracle Legion frontman Mark Mulcahy at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 20. The tribute will coincide with the release of Ciao My Shining Star – The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, a compilation of Mulcahy covers by the likes of Black, Berkeley, Thom Yorke, The National, Michael Stipe, Dinosaur Jr., Chris Harford & Mr Ray Nealm and Vic Chesnutt, among others. Proceeds from the compilation will benefit the influential songwriter, whose wife recently passed, leaving him with twin three-year-olds.

The benefit will also feature appearances by Chris Harford & Ray Neal, Butterflies of Love, The Parkway Charlies, Winterpills, The Late B.P. Helium and a reading by graphic novelist Ben Katchor. The club will also host the premiere of a video for Thom Yorke’s “All For The Best.”

Mulcahy’s music is perhaps most known for its inclusion in the TV show The Adventures of Pete & Pete. That shows star Danny Tamberelli and his indie-jam band Jounce have also recorded a version of Mulcahy’s “The Heart Is Attached,” which will be released as a digital track with the album.
