The Black Keys and former Roc-A-Fella records partner Damon Dash will collaborate on a new hip-hop/rock hybrid due out this November. In an uncharacteristic move, BlakRoc will hit stores on “Black Friday,” November 27, the day after Thanksgiving (to be dubbed “Blak Friday” by stores selling the album). Produced by and featuring The Black Keys, BlakRoc will boast appearances by Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, Jim Jones, NOE, Nicole Wray and Billy Danze. “No samples were used on the record,” Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach said in a statement. “It’s all live instruments and live vocals.” The album will be released on the Black Keys BlakRoc Records and sold at independent record stores. The Black Keys will appear at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience on October 30. Meanwhile, the members of the band will be on the road with their side-projects.
