Last night, the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic performed in Portsmouth, VA. Though Gregg Allman appears to be recovering from his pinched nerve, Gov’t Mule keyboardist Danny Louis augmented the Allmans throughout the night. In addition, Louis sat in with Widespread Panic during a jam leading out of “Impossible.” As expected, the members of Widespread Panic also sat in with the Allman Brothers Band during its set.

During an Oteil Burbridge-sung cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Franklin’s Tower,” Gregg Allman left the stage and Dave Schools, Jimmy Herring, Todd Nance and Sunny Ortiz all emerged for an extended jam. The Allmans will open a two-night run in Birmingham, Alabama tomorrow. The two bands have also announced that their October 13 show has been moved inside from the World Park to the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
