Former New Groove of the Month Cornmeal will discontinue its reunion Wednesdays at Chicago’s Martyrs’ due to extensive national touring. A statement reads, “The band wants to thank Martyrs’ and all who have attended in the past for their support. Wavy Dave Burlingame (banjo player for the progressive bluegrass band) says ‘We love coming home to Martyrs’ and all the people who have become our regular Wednesday family there, we’ll miss Reunion Wednesdays for sure.’”

The group will, however, continue its annual post Thanksgiving show in Chicago. This year’s event will take place at Chicago’s The Vic with Trampled By Turtles. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Cornmeal will also host a toy drive for the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to this show, which ill will be donated to one of the thousands of less fortunate children in the state of Illinois.

Cornmeal also will release a live album this fall, Live in Chicago, IL Vol. I. The album was recorded live during the winter of 2009 at Martyrs’ during Reunion Wednesdays.
