Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl and Calling All Crows will host a free Care Package Assembly Party for U.S troops the afternoon of Saturday, November 28. The 2 PM show will feature performances by members of Guster, fun., State Radio, Steel Train and Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers. Though the service event is free, attendees are encouraged to bring food, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, baby wipes, body/foot powder, lip balm, long-distance phone cards, books, CDs, batteries, playing cards, Ziploc bags, disposable cameras and other items frequently requested by U.S. troops.

While at the venue volunteers will write letters to troops, thank them for their service, and pack the notes with care packages to be shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan in time for the holiday season. Cash donations will also be collected to help offset international shipping costs. Guster is in New York for shows at the Beacon Theater on November 27 and 28, while Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers will perform at New York’s Bowery Ballroom the same night. State Radio is scheduled to perform with 311 at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on November 27 and 28 as well.
