Steve Kimock performed at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium this past Friday. As a treat, Kimock solicited requests before the show. The evening’s first set opened with “Kissin’ The Boo,” and also included “Summer Jam,” “Cissy Strut,” “Why Can’t We All Just Samba,” “The Long Form (part IV)” and “Hillbillies on PCP.” The group’s second set opened with a version of “It’s Up To You” that slipped into “Life of the Party” and also included “Mother’s Song,” “Ice Cream Factory” and the Grateful Dead song Kimock is most regularly associated with, “Stella Blue.” In addition to his band Crazy Engine, Kimock was backed by longtime collaborator Bobby Vega (bass), Hadi Al-Sadoon “ trumpet” and his Rhythm Devils collaborator Sikiru Adepojo (talking drum) throughout the show. Norton Wisdom also painted throughout the night.

Kimock will perform next with String Cheese Incident’s Jason Hann, Michael Travis and Kyle Hollingsworth as Holy Kimoto. The show will take place at Miami’s White Room on January 8.
