Last night Umphrey’s McGee opened its year-end run in the group’s native Chicago. The band’s performance at the Vic Theatre, offered a nod to its Jamaican appearance two weeks earlier for Caribbean Holidaze. The encore began with “Nopener” followed by the band’s debut cover of “Steppin’ Razor,” the Joe Higgs song long associated with Peter Tosh. That song that led into “Nothing Too Fancy,” which closed out the night.

The band moves to the Aragon Ballroom tonight and Thursday. In addition, the group has confirmed some additional March 2010 shows, including a three night stand in Minneapolis at First Avenue from March 12-14.
