Marco Benevento recently completed a series of dates with Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis and Slip drummer Andrew Barr. On a few occasions the musicians were also joined by another member of The Slip. This past Thursday guitarist Brad Barr sat in with the trio for the old Duo song “Mephisto” and a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good” at Allston, MA’s Sculler’s Jazz Club.

A few days later, Brad Barr opened for the Marco Benevento Trio with his collaborator Miles Perkin at Montreal’s Le Divan Orange. The musicians, who perform as part of Super Little around Barr’s adopted Montreal hometown, offered a 4-song, 45-minute set that featured “trippy intros” to songs like “Deacon’s Son” and “Hello I’m A Monster.” Barr later joined the Marco Benevento Trio for “The Real Morning Party,” The Knife’s “Heartbeats,” “Greenpoint,” “Mephisto” and “You Know I’m No Good.” The trio also inserted a jam based around The Slip’s “If One of Us Should Fall” into “Call Home.” Additional reporting by Lucas Samuels
