Jackie Greene will pay tribute to the Grateful Dead on his new EP. Though the singer/songwriter was far from a Deadhead when Phil Lesh drafted him to join his band in 2007, Greene has turned into a favorite among many Dead fans. In addition to regularly playing with Lesh, Greene has also toured as an opening act for RatDog, played Grateful Dead-centric festivals like Gathering of the Vibes and participated in the first Deadheads for Obama concert. His new The Grateful EP features his takes on the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter originals “Sugaree,” “New Speedway Boogie” and “Brokedown Palace.” The EP is available for free on Greene’s homepage.
