The Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that focuses on public service efforts, has named RatDog/Furthur frontman Bob Weir and O.A.R.‘s Marc Roberge as two of its Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Ambassadors for 2010. The two join such notable national figures as: NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, U.S. Representative John Lewis and Former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford. Their charge is to “to promote the MLK Day to a broad audience and encourage more Americans to do their part to help realize Dr. King’s dream. Many Ambassadors will mark the King Holiday by volunteering in local service projects, while others will post Twitter and Facebook messages leading up to the day of service.” Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is this coming Monday, January 18.
