Williams and Moseley this summer at the Gathering of the Vibes – photo by Dean Budnick

Late last week, Keller Williams’ website called attention to his Saturday night show in Denver. Without giving specifics, the site highlighted the performance at the Ogden Theatre, which followed “two days of riding and performing in the mountains.” As it turned out the Ogden show proved to be a memorable one, with two guest players sitting in with Williams for a portion of the night. Joining him were Yonder Mountain String Band’s Jeff Austin on mandolin and Keller’s occasional collaborator Keith Moseley (String Cheese Incident) on electric bass. The trio delivered a take on the Grateful Dead’s classic run from “Scarlet Begonias” into “Fire On The Mountain” as well as versions of “Cadillac,” “Kidney in a Cooler,” “More Than A Little” and “Celebrate Your Youth.” Keller is now off until his winter tour resumes in Columbia, MO on January 28.
