Brock Butler Visits "Graceland" with Umphrey’s McGee

Perpetual Groove guitarist Brock Butler sat in with Umphrey’s McGee at Birmingham, AL’s WorkPlay Soundstage last night. Butler—who announced his sit in via Perpetual Groove’s Twitter page—emerged during the band’s first set to sing and play pedal steel guitar on a cover of Paul Simon’s “Graceland” (a song he often covers during his solo sets). He later returned during Umphrey’s McGee’s second set to lead the band through his own song, “Cold Gold.” The song appears on Butler’s new solo album, Lately Here Lately Here Though. Umphrey’s will headline Asheville, NC’s The Orange Peel Thursday.

nice mention. however Brock plays a lap steel, not a pedal. you can hear a very good recording of the show here. www.archive.org%2Fdetails%2Fum2010-02-09.ccm4
