The Backbeat Jazzfest Series 2010 will take place in New Orleans from April 23 through May 1 against the backdrop of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The announced shows all take place at Tipitina’s French Quarter and The Blue Nile, kicking off on Friday April 23 with a 10PM performance by Marco Benevento & Friends, featuring Billy Martin and Dave Dreiwitz at Tipitina’s French Quarter, followed by a 2AM show at the same venue from George Porter Jr & Runnin Pardners. Another intriguing offering is Some Cat From Japan: Music Inspired By Jimi Hendrix with Will Bernard, Nigel Hall, Scott Metzger, Ron Johnson and Eric Bolivar. The show is set for Friday April 30 at Tipitina’s French Quarter – Upstairs. Tickets for these events are now on sale.
