Last night, recent Relix On The Verge subject Jounce opened for Brothers Past at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl. Near the end of Jounce’s set, Brothers Past guitarist Tom Hamilton sat in with the band on the original “These Things” and a cover of the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter.” Hamilton plays guitar on the studio version of “These Things,” the title-track of the band’s most recent studio album.

In related news, Hamilton has completed a new EP for his American Babies group, Weight of the World . The EP was recorded with Philadelphia producer Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Josh Ritter, Man Man), who will also produce American Babies’ next full-length release. According to the band Moriaty helped Hamilton, “reinvent his rocked-out, Americana sound with a grittier and even more uncut approach. The end result is an album that talks of change, war, Wall Street, family, and the struggle to wade through it all; be it alone or with a partner.” The album’s cover depicts founding American Babies/Brothers Past member Jim Hamilton, a member of the U.S. Armed Forces currently stationed overseas.

Jounce will perform at New York’s Ella on April 3, while Brothers Past will appear at Austin, TX’s The Parish on March 11.
