Last night in Boston, Bob Weir appeared at the Perkins School for the Blind spring fundraiser. Weir performed two solo tunes at the Perkins Possibilities Gala: “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and “Loose Lucy.” Then he was joined by Perkins students John Castillo (Drums and Vocals), Campbell Grousbeck (Bass), Anton Sviridenko (Violin) and Andrew Park (Accordion) for “Uncle John’s Band,” “Sugar Magnolia>Sunshine Daydream” and “Ripple.” Campbell Grousbeck is the son of Celtics CEO Wyc Grousbeck and the Celtics’ Ray Allen was on hand, along with general manager Danny Ainge and broadcaster Tommy Heinsohn.

Weir’s Celtics connection will continue tonight as he sings the national anthem before Game 3 of the Celtics/Cleveland Cavaliers Playoff game. This continues a Celtics connection that began in the mid-80’s when Deadhead Bill Walton was a member of the C’s.
