JJ Grey & Mofro will release Georgia Warhorse on August 24 via Alligator Records. The album was recorded in a studio full of vintage equipment in Grey’s native Florida (near the Georgia line). Georgia Warhorse is named for a type of southern grasshopper.

“The Georgia Warhorse is real tough but a chilled out little thing,” Grey said in a statement. “Nothing seems to rile them. They’re in no hurry but they have a kind of resilience. They keep coming back.”

The album also features appearances by special guests Toots Hibbert and Derek Trucks. The group will perform at Grand Rapids, MI’s Meijer Gardens’ Summer Concert Series on June 17.
