Ivan Neville Joins Lubriphonic Onstage and In the Studio

Ivan Neville sat in with Chicago’s Lubriphonic at the Chicago Blues Festival this past Sunday. The Dumpstaphunk leader joined the six-piece funk/soul/blues outfit for three songs on Hammond organ and vocals: Curtis Mayfield’s “Hell Below”, Wilson Pickett’s “Don’t Let The Green Grass Fool You” and Lubriphonic’s “Whatever You Do Don’t Stop” (which can be streamed here).

Neville stayed in Chicago this week to record tracks on three tunes for Lubriphonic’s next record, which is due out in late September. To celebrate the guest cameo, Lubriphonic is offering a free download of over 90 minutes of live material on its website. The band is touring this summer and will appear at festivals such as Summerfest, Gathering of the Vibes, Camp Euphoria and the Bear Creek Music Festival.
