The second annual Taos Mountain Music Festival is set to take place over Labor Day weekend on September 5. We’ve already reported that Gov’t Mule will perform at the event, set to take place at New Mexico’s Taos Ski Valley. Joining the Mule will be Yonder Mountain String Band, Shemekia Copeland, Mia Borders and some other acts yet to be announced.

While we’re on the subject of Yonder, we’ll take a brief look back to their evening performance last Wednesday June 16, at the Telluride Conference Center on the eve of the 37th Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Larry Keel, who occasionally performs with Yonder’s Jeff Austin, stepped out on guitar for a number of songs during the first set, including: “Up On The Hill Where They Do The Boogie,” “Pockets,” “Ooh La La” and a stretch from “New Horizons” into “Only A Northern Song” and back into “New Horizons.” In addition, Keller Williams, himself a Keller collaborator, also joined in on vocals for “New Horizons,” a song that he recorded with Larry and Jenny Keel for their Grass release.
