Tom Tom Club Confirms New Album, National Tour

Tom Tom Club, will release Genius Of Live on September 28. The album features tracks from Tom Tom Club’s 2001 recording Live At The Club House, as well as a Latin Alternative remix of Tom Tom Club’s “Genius Of Love.” The 30-year-old group is led by Talking Heads members Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz.

Live At The Club House was recorded shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in front of a small audience in a Connecticut home studio. The album features a mix of Tom Tom Club staples and remixes, including “Genius Of Love,” “Wordy Rappinghood” and Al Green’s “Take Me To The River.”

“We have a really exciting band and wanted to record the band for posterity while we were all together,” Frantz said in a statement. “Who knew if we would still be all together in the future? This was in October immediately following the harrowing events of September 11 and we wanted to do something positive and fun to counteract the sad and confused feeling people were experiencing at the time.”

Tom Tom Club will support Genius of Live with its first lengthy U.S. tour in a decade.
