ALO kicked off its summer tour with Jack Johnson and G. Love this past Friday at Hartford, CT’s Comcast Theatre. Jack Johnson drummer Adam Topal filled in for ALO’s Dave Brogan on this opening night after the drummer was forced to miss the show for family reasons. While ALO keyboardist Zach Gill is a fulltime member of Johnson’s band, Johnson also brought out ALO guitarist Dan Lebowitz, who played guitar and lap steel on “Turn Your Love,” “Breakdown” and “Flake.” In addition, G. Love and Hawaii singer Paula Fuga (who appears on Johnson’s new release) sat in with the headliner.

Brogan returned to the stage with ALO Saturday night at Mansfield, MA’s Comcast Center. The collaborations continued throughout the night and Johnson once again invited out G. Love, Fuga and Lebo for a few songs (the three musicians will likely sit in each night of the extensive summer tour). Finally, at the end of last night’s performance at Camden, NJ’s Susquehanna Bank Center, Brogan and ALO bassist Steve Adams emerged to play extra percussion during a group jam.

Johnson, G. Love and ALO will appear at Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center tomorrow. ALO has also added a last minute headlining show at New York’s Santo’s Party House this Thursday, July 15.
