On Saturday night in Little Rock, a number of musicians came together in support of the so-called West Memphis Three. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley were still teenagers when they were convicted of murdering three 8-year old boys in 1994. They have been in jail ever since but a number of supporters are pushing to reopen the case, hoping that prosecutors will accept new DNA evidence.

The show featured the second-ever public performance by Fistful of Mercy, which as we reported last week, features Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison. Also on hand was Eddie Vedder, who performed a brief acoustic set, the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines and Johnny Depp. Patti Smith closed out the night and a number of musicians joined her on stage. Vedder and Depp guested on “‘Dancing Barefoot,” (with the actor performing on guitar), while “‘People Have the Power,” saw all three Fistful of Mercy members appear, along with Maines, Vedder and Depp.
