Matt Butler Will Not Tour With Hot Buttered Rum This Fall

As he mentioned in a recent Jambands.com interview, drummer Matt Butler will no longer regularly tour with Hot Buttered Rum. The Everyone Orchestra drummer joined Hot Butter Rum as a guest musician in late 2008 and signed on in a more formal capacity shortly after. Butler plans to focus on the Everyone Orchestra and his family commitments this fall and for the indefinite future. HBR plans to tour with a variety of guest drummers, including ALO’s Dave Brogan.

“I have an enormous amount of love and respect for my Butter brothers, and have had a complete and total blast playing shows with them and for all of you these last couple of years,” Butler said in a statement. “I’ll continue to invite the boys to join me for EO gigs, and I look forward to drumming and collaborating with Butter for years to come.”

Butler’s last show with Hot Buttered Rum took place at Nederland, CO’s NedFest on August 28. During the show, Cornmeal’s Allie Kral (violin) and Chris Nowak (guitar) sat in on “Beneath The Blossoms,” U2’s “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “Limbs Akimbo.”
