Gov’t Mule and Yonder Collaborate in Iowa City

Jeff Austin with Mule. Photo by Heath Robson,

Gov’t Mule performed at Iowa City, IA’s The Pentacrest at University Of Iowa this past Friday. Yonder Mountain String Band opened and brought out Warren Haynes for “New Speedway Boogie” and “Death Trip.” During Gov’t Mule’s set, Yonder’s Jeff Austin played mandolin on a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” Warren Haynes then flew to New York to play with Soulive at Terminal 5, while Yonder Mountain String Band moved on to South Carolina to open for Widespread Panic in Charleston.

Many of the college kids had not heard of Gov’t Mule. This show rocked the college kids right outta their flip-flops! Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule have many new young fans since this show.
