My Morning Jacket performed a 50-minute webcast as part of the Live on Letterman concert series last night. The intimate show was taped on the set of the Late Show with David Letterman, which is filmed in the fabled Ed Sullivan Theatre. Jim James referenced the historic theater several times throughout his band’s set, joking that crew members moved Letterman’s desk to make room for the band to stretch out. With the exception of some vocal problems during “Touch Me I’m Gonna Scream,” the band offered a tight that featured many of the band’s best known songs. The setlist was almost. drawn equally from the band’s three most recent studio albums: 2003’s It Still Moves (“Mahgeetah,” “Golden” and “One Big Holiday), 2005’s Z (“Wordless Chorus,” “Anytime”) and 2008’s Evil Urges (“I’m Amazed,” “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Parts 1 and 2” and “Smokin From Shootin”).

My Morning Jacket will perform at Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble this Saturday. The band will also play five shows at New York’s Terminal 5 next week. Each night will feature one of the band’s studio albums in its entirety.
