Trombone Shorty is currently in the midst of a European tour. While performing in Paris last week, Trombone Shorty invited out his mentor and former bandleader Lenny Kravitz to play drums during his set. The collaborations continued later in the night when Trombone Shorty recorded some tracks in the studio for Kravitz’ forthcoming CD. Trombone Shorty had already recorded some parts for the album in Kravitz’ Caribbean studio.

Last week, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue also kicked off a series of UK opening dates for Jeff Beck. During the guitarist’s encore, Trombone Shorty and his sax player Tim McFatter emerged for a cover of Sly & the Family Stone’s “I Wanna Take You Higher” (after which Beck shouted out to the audience, “Trombone F***ing Shorty!”).
