Who Will Phish Cover on Halloween?

A report last week in a LA Times blog confirmed that Phish will cover an album on Halloween. Trey Anastasio explained in an interview, “We’re already learning it, and I’m having the same experience I have every year: You hear that first song, you think you know how the song line goes and how the vocal line goes, but then you learn it exactly and you find out it’s different…This year this one’s for me. The one we picked, I’m going to get more out of this as a musician than I ever have before. Three songs into it, I called everybody and told them, ‘None of the other ones — I wouldn’t think, hopefully—will have nearly the effect on my playing this one’s going to.’ ”

So what will it be? We’re interested to see your thoughts on which band the group will take on this year, with a poll now underway on

how is this news? didn’t you report on this same exact thing last week?
how come every morning after a phish show theres an article on this website about it? how come no other band gets that treatment? im finding it kind of annoying.

Rich, because WSP SUX. Also, phish is about the only jamband that does not blow these days

Cleeetus October 22, 2010, 16:38:35

how come every morning after a phish show theres an article on this website about it? Uhhhh, because many if not most jambands readers are interested? and you should inform your local police about whomever’s holding a gun to your head, making you read those Phish articles

Because they’re the heat. That’s the bottom line.

It makes sense to me, since they’re be in Atlantic City, that they’ll do a Springsteen album. And, dare I say, perhaps a special appearance by the man himself??

if i wanted to know what phish played last night, i’d look at the setlist.
why write an article after every show? its not even a review of the show. it just says they played this rare song, or that cover. its not news at all and if you think it is you should kys.

with trey’s comment on having the most effects on his playin’, i would agree with either zappa or hendrix.

I agree that they should try and diversify their articles a little bit. I don’t mind the day by day reviews at all, but if they’re gonna do it they might as well do it for more than just one band.

I’m thinking the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magick… “Sir Psycho, Sir Psycho, Yeah, He’s the man that I met one time..”

dweezil October 24, 2010, 14:03:09

not a guess but a hope that they will play Zappa …. anyone want to guess about what Zappa album they would cover? And would it be Zappa or Mothers of Invention

Wish You Were Here

moonshinefunk October 25, 2010, 01:32:33

good point rich, you know what else is puzzling? Every time the police find a guy holding a bloody knife at a murder scene they assume he’s the person who committed the murder. Really, why doesn’t anyone else merit that type of attention when the police are looking for suspects?

dweezil October 25, 2010, 04:16:38

My friend,my friend, Phish is holding the knife…. because they they are killing it right now

I’m going with Zeppelin. Maybe Hendrix, but probably Zep. Zappa’s too obscure. They always play classic rock staples (The Beatles, Talking Heads, Velvet Underground, The Who, Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd- 11/2/98)

Mono October 29, 2010, 03:06:18

They will play either Traffic Low Spark or Cream – Fresh Cream

Yes – Close to the Edge
