Umphrey’s McGee offered a night of Halloween mash-ups last evening at the Pageant in St. Louis. The group was dressed accordingly, with Brendan Bayliss as Yoko Bono, Jake Cinninger as Paul Stanley Cup, Joel Cummins as Pope John Paul Shaffer, Andy Farag as G.I. Joakim Noah, Ryan Stasik as Dr. Evil Knievel (with a Mini-Me on bass for “The Triple Wide”) and Kris Myers as Larry David Letterman (at one point in the second set Myers offered a Top Ten list of Halloween costumes). The group offered plenty of musical mash-ups as well, starting with “November Walk” which melded Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain” with the group’s own “Cemetery Walk.” Later on, the group combined “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (Tears for Fears) and “The Way You Make Me Feel” (Michael Jackson) into “The Way You Rule the World,” as well as Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve) and Umphrey’s “Hajimemashite” into “Bitter Sweet Haji.”
Another highlight was a version of Phoenix’s “1901” mashed with with Van Halen’s “Jump” and a bit of Cee Lo Green’s “Fuck You.”

The encore began with “JaJunk” and segued into “Don’t Stop the Spirit of the Radio,” which blended Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” with Rush’s “Spirit of the Radio” before segueing back into “JaJunk” to close out the night.

On Wednesday Umphrey’s will be in South Burlington, VT at Higher Ground.
