Perpetual Groove’s Halloween performance took place at Charlottesville, VA’s Jefferson Theatre on Saturday. The band had announced in advance that the theme for the night would be Diamonds Are Forever. However, this proved to be a bit of red herring as while the group did take the stage to the sounds of the James Bond Theme, opened its second set with “Diamonds Are Forever” and closed it with a version of Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die,” Perpetual Groove also offered a significant musical nod to Neil Diamond. P Groove kicked off the night with “Sweet Caroline” and also offered versions of “Forever in Blue Jeans,” “Delirious Love” and “Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon,” which Brock Butler performed solo acoustic. In addition, the band interpreted the Beatles “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and Paul Simon’s “Diamond on the Soles of Her Shoes.”

The days leading up to Halloween, saw Perpetual Groove collaborate with some of its opening acts, bringing out DJ Williams for “Orange Wedge” at The National and Wyllys for “The March of Gibbles Army” at the Music Farm.
