This coming January, indie rockers Yo La Tengo will embark on a unique “concept tour” where the band will employ the use of a “Wheel of Fortune” to determine the fate of one of its first set. According to the band’s website: “At the beginning of the night, we’ll bring a Wheel of . . . Fortune? Fate? What ARE those carnival things called? . . . on stage, and spin it. Whatever comes up, that’s what the first 45 minutes will be.”

The website lists several possibilities, some far weirder than others, that will serve as the “show concepts” featured on the wheel. Some of the possibilities are “The Name Game,” a set that will feature only songs that contain people’s names in the song titles. Or, “Songs Starting With S,” which the band promises there are plenty of, including some that are rarely, if ever, played live. Other possibilities include the band changing into their alter-ego Condo Fucks to perform cover songs from their album “Fuckbook,” or into bassist James McNew’s solo outfit Dump. All of the possible concepts are listed on the band’s website.
