Mike Gordon kicked off a solo tour in support of his new album Moss this past Saturday at West Hollywood, CA’s The Troubadour. Like all of the Phish bassist’s recent solo shows, Gordon was backed by a steady band consisting of Scott Murawski, Todd Isler, Tom Cleary and Craig Myers. During Saturday’s performance, Gordon added a few songs to his repertorie, including Tower of Power’s “Down To The Nightclub,” Dave Essex’s “Rock On” and I Miss My Mind” (which featured Cleary on lead vocals). He also nodded to Phish’s recent Halloween Costume with a cover of Little Feat’s “Sailin’ Shoes.”

Gordon performed two shows yesterday. The first took place Sunday afternoon in front of the Ben & Jerry’s store located on the famed intersection of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco, CA. The show was part of a series of “secret scoop shop” shows organized by Ben & Jerry’s and the promoters of Bonnaroo. Gordon and his band ran through “Middle Of The Road,” “Andelmans’ Yard,” “Crumbin’ Bones,” “Horizon Line” and “Dig Further Down” while fans ate free ice cream. Later in the night, Gordon and his band performed at San Francisco’s The Independent. The quintet debuted the Moss track “The Void.” The tour continues at Portland, OR’s Aladdin Theater tonight.
