Hot Rize – live at bonnaroo 2010 from shimmer-ready on Vimeo.

Legendary bluegrass band Hot Rize played its first New York City show in almost 25 years this past Thursday. The band—which features Nick Forster, Tim O’Brien, Pete Wernick and Bryan Sutton—chose BB King’s Blues Club for its New York comeback performance (the group also played a short set at Relix earlier in the afternoon—look for video of the performance in the coming days). The members of the Punch Brothers were also in town to perform with Steve Martin on Late Night with David Letterman. Immediately after filming its episode of the show, the Punch Brothers ran downtown to BB Kings to join Hot Rize for the final two songs of its set: Ola Belle Reed’s “High on a Mountain” and Bill Monroe’s “Wheel Hoss.”
