Patti Smith, Living Colour, DeVotchKa, Shawn Colvin, Bettye LaVette, Bebel Gilberto, Aimee Mann, Keller Williams, The Roots, Joan Osborne, Cowboy Junkies, Mason Jennings, J Mascis and Pete Yorn are among the initial acts confirmed for an upcoming Neil Young tribute. The show will take place
at New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 10, 2011. A house band featuring Larry Campbell will back many of the evening’s guests. The event is the latest of City Winery/Knitting Factory founder Michael Dorf’s all-star benefit tributes.

“Our decision to honor the music of Neil Young at Carnegie Hall generated instant, tremendous feedback,” Dorf said in a statement. “We’ve already sold a significant number of tickets and premium packages, and we can’t wait to share this incredible evening of music. Another sell-out crowd will bring the cumulative total donated by the series up to a half-million dollars.”

Dorf honored Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, R.E.M. and The Who at previous events. 100% of the net proceeds from the concert will be given to six music education non-profits: The American Symphony Orchestra Music Notes, Church Street School of Music, Young Audiences, Music Unites All-Youth Choir, The Pinwheel Project and FIKS (Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools).
