Former Miles Davis drummer Tony Williams led his eponymous fusion group The Tony Williams Lifetime from 1969-1976. Many noted musicians performed with the project in that time, including Ron Carter, John McLaughlin, Larry Young, Jack Bruce and Allan Holdsworth, among many others. Williams died of a heart attack in 1997, but Bruce aims to keep his spirit alive with The Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band. In addition to the Cream bassist, the all-star group includes organist John Medeski, guitarist Vernon Reid and Cindy Blackman. The musicians will play a few multi-night stands in New York, Oakland, CA and Seattle this winter.
