New Jersey based Real Estate came together, as Martin Courtney explains, because, “We were listening to a lot of Grateful Dead after college and a lot of soft rock like Steely Dan and Fleetwood Mac. That was part of the whole idea originally—to be influenced by cheesier ‘70s music and bring it up to date.” The band has found some success doing just that and recently was featured in Relix’s At Work section. On December 31 the band will perform in Brooklyn at the Ridgewood Masonic Temple on a bill that also includes Titus Andronicus, Andrew Cedermark and Julian Lynch. Prior to then, Real Estate will deliver a free show at Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday December 19.
