Several groups will share the stage in 2011 as part of Blues at the Crossroads: The Robert Johnson Centennial Concerts. These shows will celebrate what would have been Robert Johnson’s 100th birthday. The shows will feature collaborative performances by Big Head Todd & The Monsters, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Hubert Sumlin and Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm. Edwards actually attended Johnson’s last live performance the night he passed away.

“We both wanted to create a blues show that was not just another blues show, but a show that was truly unique,” Crossroads co-producer Ron Hausfeld said in a statement. “We want people to walk away saying, ‘Wow…that was cool…I’ve never seen anything like it.’”

Big Head Todd & The Monsters, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Hubert Sumlin and Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm all recently convened at Ardent Recording Studios in Memphis to record their collaborations. The studio recordings will be released in early 2011 in conjunction with the tour.
