Bob Weir and Mickey Hart Sit in with Sammy Hagar

Bob Weir and Mickey Hart sat in with former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar Saturday night during a holiday benefit held at Mill Valley, CA’s 142 Throckmorton Theatre. The Grateful Dead members emerged during Sammy Hagar & the Wabos’ set for five songs, including Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” and The Band’s “The Weight.” Weir is a regular guest at Hagar’s annual charity event.

Hagar has also sat in with Weir’s projects a few times over the years, including The Dead’s first performance in 2003. Saturday’s show marked the first known time Weir and Hart have collaborated onstage since the summer of 2009.

How can Weir/Hart sit in with this clown? It’s like a Julliard graduate playing chop sticks on piano….
