Neil Diamond? What a No Talent Canadian. If you want to see what a real musician thinks of Neil Diamond, then you should read Levon Helm’s “This Wheel’s On Fire”. the only reason he was in the “The Last Waltz” was because robby robertson was producing his album. I hate that guy. hate him. only thing he ever did was inspire some funny things in “Saving Silverman”.

All you really need to know about this club is that it includes Madonna, Michael Jackson, and the Bee Gees… Rock and Roll? meh.
That being said, big congrats to Dr. John, Leon Russell and Tom Waits. All brilliant artists deserving of recognition of some sort…

I hate to burst your bubble, but Neil Diamond is a musical genius. You may not like his music, but you can’t deny how many hits he has had, not only as an artist but as solely a writer.
And the reason you mention for Neil Diamond being in The Last Waltz is true, but so what? His career spans many years before the Last waltz. Neil never needed the hawks, Band whatever for his popularity.

It bothers me that record industry execs get in before accomplished bands like J. Geils and Bon Jovi, its one this when the founder of Electra gets in but I have never even heard of Specialty Records! Also Darlene Love? I can think of a dozens of bands who should get in before her!!

The Band is one of, if not the most important Band in U.S. history, and you should treat them as such. This is a jamband web page. Each and every major jamband has drawn from their body of work. So if Levon Helm says fuc@ Neil Diamond…well, I say it as well. Please list his genius decades of hits, and i will in turn show you a series of pop friendly, hoaky, simplistic, and souless 3 chord botch jobs. Tin Pan Alley? I don’t believe I have ever read Bobby Dylan or Cowboy Jack ever referencing Neil as a fellow contributer from those days. He’s a hack that stuck around a scene long enough to get noticed. Anyone that wears that much rhinestone (minus little richard) is making up for a lack of talent. PooPoo on Neil Diamond.
