Dr. John, Tom Waits, Alice Cooper Band, Neil Diamond, Elektra records founder Art Rupe, Leon Russell, Darlene Love and Specialty Records founder Jac Holzman will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. The musicians will be formally welcomed into the Rock Hall during a gala at New York’s Waldorf Astoria on March 14. The Beastie Boys, J. Geils Band and Bon Jovi were among the nominees who were not voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this time around.

If Dr. John attends the induction ceremony, he will be in the city in time to possibly sit in with the Allman Brothers Band at New York’s Beacon Theater (the piano player appears on Gregg Allman’s new solo album, Low Country Blues). Tom Waits has not performed in New York since 2005.
