Last night longtime Drive-by Truckers producer David Barbe appeared in Nashville at The Basement. The Athens-based musician (who also joined Bob Mould in Sugar for many years) was without his steady group the Quick Hooks, so he enlisted the Truckers’ Patterson Hood, along with Widespread Panic drummer Todd Nance and Bloodkin’s Danny Hutchens. The night opened with a set from Nance and Hutchens, followed by Barbe’s group, which also included Quick Hooks’ guitarist Frank McDonald. Then Hood closed out the evening with a three piece that drew in Barbe and Nance, offering such songs as “Go-Go Boots,” “Ray’s Automatic Weapon” and “Uncle Disney.”
