Some old school Biscuits

The Disco Biscuits closed its three night run at New York’s Terminal 5 last night. As previously reported, original Disco Biscuits drummer Sam Altman sat in for Allen Aucoin throughout the entire show. Aucoin was hospitalized this past Saturday due to complications stemming from an asthma attack and is still in intensive care. The Disco Biscuits’ set last night only featured material from Altman’s ten years with the band (1995-2005).

The quartet opened its first set with an extended jam that led into “I-Man.” The jam then morphed into “Run Like Hell” and the second part of “I-Man.” “Above the Waves” closed the four-song, 75-minute plus set. The Biscuits’ second set opened with “Aceetobee” and included the early Biscuits song “Down To The Bottom,” as well as “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.,” “Confrontation” and the end of “Run Like Hell.” “Home Again” closed the night.

Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein mentioned from the stage that it was “like riding a bike” for Altman to play with his former band. The drummer—who is now a doctor—has sat in with the group for a few songs over the past five years, including 12/30/07, 7/18/09 and 3/21/10. Last night’s show was the first time Altman played an entire show with the band since he officially left the group in 2005.

The Disco Biscuits will perform with Altman and drummer Johnny Rabb at Upper Darby, PA’s Tower Theater tonight. Please click here for last night’s complete setlist.
