On April 12 Alison Krauss and Union Station will finally release the follow-up to 2004’s Lonely Runs Both Ways. The band self-produced the eleven tracks Paper Airplane, working with engineer Mike Shipley (Joni Mitchell, Maroon 5). This is Krauss’ first studio album since her 2007 collaboration with Robert Plant, Raising Sand. Alison Krauss and Union Station features Krauss on fiddle and lead vocals, along with Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals), Barry Bales (bass and harmony vocals), Ron Block(banjo, guitar and harmony vocals), and Jerry Douglas (Dobro and harmony vocals).

In an interview posted today to Jambands.com, Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring shares his high praise of Krauss and the group, while describing a surprising conversation with Jerry Douglas at one of the band’s performances.
