Been to over 60 festivals. Phish, Vibes, Berkfest, SmileFest, Allgood,1st Bonnaroo.etc Biggest problem: waiting in line for everything. I prefer festivals w/ 15,000 or less. Might be going to Floyd Fest this year.

evreyone knows bonnaroo has gotten too mainstream to have its true “hippy vibes” . The dilemma is the bands they book bring there A games and the late night shows are some of the best going. But there can be some serious set overlaps and can take a while to get around the campsite and festival grounds and can be way too hot out so I dont think I’ll be going this year but dont know yet, my mind is set on the LCD Soundsytem run in new york right now

Exactly, I can only find about 3 acts I like, a few I wouldnt mind seeing, and a lot that I dont really want to see at all. Thats the problem with bonnaroo. With something like All Good or Summer Camp, its 90% artists I REALLY want to see, 5% band I never heard of but then find out they are really good, and 5% I wouldnt mind seeing. I’m just not gunna pay $300 to go see 3 bands and hang out with frat kids, sorry.

I went to Bonnaroo from 2002 to 2005. There were great moments at all of them, but 2002 I think was by far the greatest….followed by the mud shows in 2004. No one really knew what to expect and were just blown away by how fantastic the scene, the shows, the venue all were. In 2005 it took us 7hrs to get from Nashville (90min) to a camp site, and I saw my first fist fight. I said that was enough.
I think it’s great that they now incorporate other music genre’s and depending on who they are maybe I will attend one more. But for now, I like my All Good…and I think Super Ball would be my second choice.

Was at first one, had a blast. Thats it never went back. Not a good festival since, in my opinion.

Shawn February 15, 2011, 18:56:42

Why has it not been a good festival since the first. In case you dont recall it took people a full day to get in now it takes around 2 hrs? If its the music then whats wrong?

If you are calling Bonnaroo crap, then you don’t respect music. The beauty of something like Bonnaroo is that just about every genre of music is available at your finger tips. If you can’t find 3 acts you don’t like on the lineup this year or any year, sell all your albums and blow out your eardrums because you do not deserve to ever hear music again.

I remember when the news first came out about Bonnaroo, I owned a little headshop in Indiana and made my own posters to advertise the event. I bought my tickets the day they went on sale. I couldn’t believe that all my favorite acts were in one place at one time.

Wow, it only took ten years to take a good festival and turn it into total crap!
