Last night, Umphrey’s McGee performed at Richmond, VA’s The National. The group’s show stretched past Midnight and the band’s encore started a few minutes into Presidents’ Day. The group celebrated by encoring with both an a cappella take on the “National Anthem” and a cover of Radiohead’s Kid A track “National Anthem.” In addition, rising jamband star Zach Deputy emerged during the band’s second set to scat during “Made to Measure.”

In addition, Deputy sat in with the group a night earlier at Charlotte, NC’s The Fillmore on a version of “Let’s Get It On.” Local teenage guitar ace Jake Haldenvang also emerged during Saturday’s show during “Hangover” while Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger moved over to keyboards and percussion. Umphrey’s McGee is off the road until a show at Madison, WI’s Barrymore Theatre on March 2.
