Laurence Scudder Leaves Ryan Montbleau Band

Violist Laurence Scudder will leave Ryan Montbleau Band to pursue other musical interests. This is Ryan Montbleau Band’s first lineup change in six years. Scudder has played over 1,000 shows with the band over the past seven years and appears on three studio albums with the band.

Guitarist Lyle Brewer will fill Scudder’s name in the band. A recent graduate from the New England Conservatory of Music, Brewer has toured nationally with Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles.

I think Rogers has no reason to think Laurence was forced out. Probably just a big fan that is temporarily hurt and confused by the huge decision by the band. Change is ok, Rogers. Beautiful music will still be brought to the lucky ones that listen for years to come.

@Ryan Montbleau, it is very cool of you to respond to Roger’s comment. I will miss Laurence. If you haven’t done so already, please post the name of the new band he’s part of on your blog/twitter (just started following you). Mia

Forced out is more like it.

Laurence was not forced out of the band by any means. He and Yahuba were going to be left off of a tour in the spring, but my plan was to work everyone into the mix after that. Lyle started playing gigs with all of us back in December. He was never intended as a permanent replacement. Now that Laurence has decided to leave the band, the addition of Lyle is indeed more permanent. But this is not the way that I had intended for things to happen. I’m curious why you think he was forced out? Ryan Montbleau
