Umphrey’s McGee played a sold out show at Asheville, NC’s Orange Peel this past Thursday. After the show, Tiny Boxes featuring Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins played at the nearby Mo Daddy’s Bar. Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger attended the after show and sat in with the group for a portion of its set. Several location musicians also sat in throughout the night, including The Mantras keyboardist Justin W. Powell, the former keyboardist of the Vertigo Jazz Project.

Mo Daddy’s will host the first anniversary party for its its weekly free soul/jazz jam this evening. Several guests will sit in throughout the night, including Bela Fleck & The Flecktones percussionist Futureman. Past Special Guests have included Ike Stubblefield Kofi Burbridge, Jeff Sipe, Yonrico Scott, Count M’Butu, Grant Green Jr., Bon Lazaga and Shane Pruitt.
