The Allman Brothers Band last entered the studio together for 2003’s Hittin’ The Note. However, as the group ramps up for next month’s Beacon Theatre run, Gregg Allman suggests that a new studio album may well be forthcoming. In an interview that now appears on the ExploreMusic site, he goes so far as to say “We’ll probably cut it this year.” He has a producer in mind as well, T-Bone Burnett, who took on the same role for Allman’s new Low Country Blues disc. Allman adds, “He’s already said okay but I got to get the okay from the Brothers.” The group has debuted a handful of original songs since Hittin The Note, so this timeframe seems feasible.
